We Are on Our Way to ALASKA! |

In about six hours Paul, Dante and I will be driven to San Francisco to board the Dawn Princess for a 10 day cruise to Alaska. As you can imagine, we are very excited.
Alaska has been on our travel list for about eight years now. Back in October, we knew we wanted to take an extended vacation this year. Our last one was five years ago when we went on that magical trip to Scotland and Orkney. We had been debating where to go for several months when we found out that Princess was offering cruises to Alaska out of San Francisco, just 20 minutes from our home. We wouldn't have to get on a plane to go on one of our dream vacations. A big plus for me as I love to travel, but don't like flying. It would also save us big bucks in air fare.
Another added benefit is the aspect of the cruise itself. Typically, Paul and I travel very light. Traveling light with Dante still involves 10 days worth of diapers (an entire box) a stroller and a car seat (just in case we rent a car or take a taxi in any of the ports). The cruise is basically a floating hotel so we won't have to schlep his accessories from one place to another like we would if we were doing a cross country trip.
Our friend Jesse, who is driving us to the ship, will be staying in our home while we are gone and taking care of Harlan. Jesse always brings his dog Roxie, so Harlan will be having a good time as well! It's win/win for the entire Tosetti family, including Harlan.
I promise to write an article about how we easily saved the money for this trip when we get back. I'll also include tips on how to save money cruising along with other Budget Savvy travel ideas.
While I'm gone, Kevin Gibbons, Budget Savvy's managing editor, will be writing and editing the Tidbits newsletters and will also add content to the Budget Savvy World Report. He has a post planned for the Living the Budget Savvy Life section too so keep your eyes open for it.
I look forward to telling you all about our adventures hen we get back! See you in 10 days!
