Our Favorite Hair Products
BY Budget Savvy Readers
We'll take a personal recommendation over a slick advertising campaign any day. With this in mind, we asked Budget Savvy readers for the names of their favorite hair care products. Some of the recommendations are splurges and some are easy on the wallet. But, according to our readers, they are all worth it!.

Matrix Amplify Root Lifter
One hair product I can't live without is Matrix Amplify Root Lifter. Thin, flat hair? Matrix Amplify Root Lifter does the trick. I spray it on my roots, blow dry, curl my hair with rollers and it helps keep my hair looking great all day!

Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play Harder Firm Volumizing Hairspray
The absolute BEST hair spray is Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play Harder Firm Volumizing Hairspray. It holds your style without being the least bit sticky and you can brush right through it. I LOVE this and it is the only spray I use. Nothing else comes close!

Hair Dye Conditioner
I think that the best hair conditioner is the one in hair dye boxes. You let it sit for about 5 minutes and it leaves your hair feeling so smooth. I think that the secret is to put it on from the nape of the neck down, comb it through and then just comb the top last.
For bouts with dandruff I use Listerine. My family has used this cure for generations.

Suave Professionals Scrunching Mousse
My favorite mousse is Suave Professionals Scrunching Mousse. I have a curly perm and this mousse works even better than the salon brands I have tried. It gives my curls separation and is never stiff. I love it!

Frederic Fekkai Glossing Crème
Frederic Fekkai Glossing Crème! A little goes a long way. Apply to the ends of damp hair prior to blow drying. It adds gloss without weighing it down. It is great for dry ends. Buy the 7 oz size and get more product for the $$.

I use Ultramoist Conditioner to go with it or a leave-in conditioner called Fast Food by AG. They are a bit more expensive than store-bought brands, but I find that I have to use less. I love to pamper myself a bit with hair products, especially since I get them at cost because I work for a salon.

John Frieda Color Captivating Shampoo in…
Radiant Red, Brilliant Brunette, Sheer Blonde
I love the John Freida Collection Color Captivating shampoo and conditioner because they help my hair coloring last between visits to the stylist, which helps to save money! It makes my hair soft to the touch, and shiny too. I wash my hair every other day to use less shampoo and save my hair coloring as well.
