I sent up the bat signal last week regarding my wardrobe. It's in shambles. Since losing my baby weight, plus an additional 8 lbs., the clothes that I have look awful on me. Even my wardrobes staples don't work anymore. My Dark Knight arrived in the form of the Goodwill store.
Because I have to replace virtually everything (this isn't a complaint - I am thrilled to have lost that extra 8 lbs.) I want to start shopping at a place that I can pick up an armload of clothes without dropping a wad of cash.
On Saturday, I got to the store as soon as it opened at 9:00 am. There were just a few of us early birds so no one minded that we carried piles of clothes into the changing room and stayed there for 10 or 15 minutes. Also, the store hadn't been pillaged by other shoppers yet, so everything was neatly in its place. Although at this Goodwill, pillaging isn't usually a problem. One of the things I love about it is how well it is cared for by the staff. I never feel "cheap" for shopping there because of how neat and organized they keep it.
I hit the pants and skirts racks first and tried on about 12 different items. After deciding to keep three, I went in search of tops. Fifteen minutes later I was back in the dressing room with another 12 or so items. I kept three. On my way to the register, I stumbled on a gorgeous maroon scarf and added it to my pile.
An hour after walking in the door, I walked out with two pairs of pants and one skirt, a sweater, two tops and the scarf for just $37.50. It was a productive morning!
* A picture of my goodwill booty. The scarf is hanging over the door knob. Now that I have a few staples, I hope to inject a little more color and style into my next shopping trip.
