Paul and I had an absolute blast in Vegas. I have an article in the works about our trip, but to give you a few highlights:

* The Burger Bar at Mandalay Bay has the best hamburgers I have ever tasted outside of Redwood City's own City Pub.

* We saw former baseball player Pete Rose at the Forum at Caesars Palace.

* We saw magician Chris Angel and that 70's Show actor Wilmer Valderrama at the Luxor.

* We thoroughly enjoyed Monty Python's Spamalot at the Wynn. For the record, the Wynn is a must see destination. It is amazing!

* Shopping at FAO Schwartz at the Forum for Dante's Christmas and birthday presents was ridiculously fun!

* Visiting the school of Randy Couture, current heavy weight champion of the UFC was an exciting experience for us both.

* The best meal we had (and we had a lot of good meals) was at Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab at the Forum.

Paul and really enjoyed having the time to spend together alone. Dante's grandparents were thrilled to have him all to themselves so it was a great weekend for all of us.

I learned something for myself as well. At the airport, on the plane and in the mornings while Paul slept, I had time to think about Budget Savvy and our home. I was able to make plans and work on processes to make the magazine and our life at home run more smoothly. I realized last weekend how important it is to get out of the trenches every once in awhile to give yourself enough distance to take a look at the big picture.

I came back from the trip excited and energized from the time in Vegas, but also from the vacation from my daily routines. This was an excellent lesson for me and one I have taken to heart. Paul and I have promised each other that we would get away just the two of us or as a family, even for just one night, every two-three months.
