Perhaps the best advice on parenting that Paul and I received was from our friends Steve and Laura. They said that no matter how much we love being with Dante (and we do), it is imperative for just the two of us to get away and spend time alone as often as possible. Paul and I are taking their advice to heart and are heading to Vegas for three nights on November 29th.
After 13 years of being together, Paul and I are still madly in love with each other and covet our time alone together. We are really looking forward to this trip. Prior to opening Fearless Fitness and the arrival of Dante, Paul and I would alternate going to Disneyland or Las Vegas at least once a year.
Each time we visit Vegas, we try to stay in a different hotel. This time, we are staying at the Luxor. Our plans include:
* Dinner with Paul's Uncle Richard who lives in Vegas. This is a real treat as we really enjoy his company.
* Visiting Xtreme Couture: the school of current UFC Heavy Weight Champion Randy Couture.
* Spamalot! I purchased our tickets through TravelZoo.com and scored great seats via a free upgrade saving us $40.
* Eat, drink and explore. Vegas is an ever-evolving city and there is always something new to see and discover.
As much as we are looking forward to the trip, our parents are just as eager to boot us out of the house as they will get Dante to themselves. Dante will stay with Paul's dad and other mom Joan, the first night. Paul Sr. takes care of Dante every Monday and we couldn't ask for a more conscientious and loving babysitter. My mom and other dad Gary will drive up on Friday to take care of Dante the following two nights. They will be staying at our house and taking care of Harlan too which will save us almost $200 on pet sitting fees. Thanks Mom!!
