Dante and I had to take a quick trip to the mall on Sunday. I was wearing a v-neck top that always made me feel somewhat dowdy. I considered changing before I left the house, but decided against it. I cursed myself by saying out loud, "I won't see anyone I know". It took just five minutes for me to run into an old colleague who I have always admired.

Instead of enjoying the conversation, all I kept thinking about was how frumpy I must look to her. This was a ridiculous line of thought as she isn't the type of person who cares how others are dressed. Regardless, I was distracted and annoyed with myself.

The offending top went directly into the thrift store pile as soon as I got home.

I tend to maintain a lean wardrobe wearing approximately 95% of the clothes in my closet on a regular basis. Just about all of the items are comfortable and make me feel good. Sunday's experience was a needed reminder to stay selective when it comes to my wardrobe. When shopping, I need to take my time trying things on and make sure I am in love with what I bring home.

How wearable is your wardrobe? Do you wear 5% or 95% of your clothes on a regular basis, or is it somewhere in between? I'd love to hear your story. Please email me at melissa@budgetsavvymag.com.
