A Unique and Perfect Gift |

In my May 6th entry, I talked about WallWords.com. While initially checking out their site, I stumbled across the following quote: "Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway." – John Wayne.
For a thousand different reasons this was the perfect quote for my dad. The most obvious is his dubious distinction of having lost three thumbs while roping. You read that right - three thumbs. Over a rodeo career spanning almost 30 years, dad has had a number of injuries. Just this winter he broke his arm after losing his stirrup. Once again, this over-60 year old (with the zest for life of a 20-year old) got right back in the saddle because roping is his passion.
It's this dedication to his passion that continues to inspire me to come back from various injuries or setbacks that I have had – like the time I broke my arm during my first black belt test, or when I had to have shoulder surgery after a bad fall while sparring.
So, I ordered the quote for dad. The ordering process was easy and it arrived in just a few days. Originally, I thought the quote would be perfect for my dad's tack room. Instead, he asked if Paul would put it in his living room above his Clint Eastwood picture (which we have all decided needs to be moved to another wall and replaced by a John Wayne picture).
