My cousin Adam is a PE coach at a middle school in Fresno. He leads a very busy life with practices after school and games on the weekends. We were chatting on the phone the other day commiserating about our busy schedules.
Adam mentioned that although he does get tired, he likes to keep busy. He noticed that when he has too much time on his hands he tends to spend money on things he would never purchase normally.
I've been thinking about that statement. How many of us spend money out of boredom? I notice that if I have too much time on my hands I tend to overeat. I have kept an active lifestyle – fencing in my teens and early 20's and martial arts since I was 25. That plays a huge role in keeping me from overeating. I wonder if it unconsciously helps keep me from overspending as well.
Do you find that you spend more money or overeat when you have too much time on your hands? I'd love to hear from you. Email me your thoughts at melissa@budgetsavvymag.com.
