I saved myself a good $7-$15 and a lot of hassle this week just by thinking before I buy.

For the last few weeks I have been unhappy with the way my eye makeup looks. I use a brush to apply powder makeup as eyeliner. I love the effect it gives my eyes. However, for the past few weeks, no matter how much time I took to apply it, I couldn't get it to look "clean". I kept making a mess.

I was beginning to resign myself to having to go back to liquid liner – but I hate using it for a day look; it's too severe. I'm not sure why it dawned on me, but I thought about washing my brush. I am too embarrassed to tell you the last time I washed it. It took just a dot of baby shampoo. After letting it dry, I tried it out. It applied the powder makeup perfectly!

I managed to save a few bucks as well as the frustration of purchasing different eyeliners until I found one that worked for me.
