Ack! I have just one Christmas present purchased so far. I had such grand plans to have them all taken care of by Halloween. Does that sound too ambitious? Did I mention that I am eight months pregnant? With a due date of December 30th, I really want to get the stress of shopping out of the way so I can enjoy the holidays as well as the last days of my pregnancy.

I have revised my goal and hope to have my shopping finished by Thanksgiving. That's just three weekends and 21 days away. I have about 10 gifts to purchase which isn't too overwhelming.

I'll start by visiting some of my favorite websites:

* Amazon Outlet
* Target
* Bed Bath & Beyond
* The Museum Company
* Cost Plus World Markets

I'll order as much as I can online this weekend. The nice thing about purchasing so early is that I have plenty of time for delivery.

Once I exhaust the Internet, I'll head out to the stores. Because I am pregnant, I will definitely take my shopping in baby steps - hitting one or two stores when I have an hour or so to spare. I believe in the "How do you eat an elephant philosophy?"… one bite at a time.

One of the greatest benefits to doing my shopping so early is how much money I will save. It's always the last minute "panic gifts" that put my budget out of whack.

Have you started your shopping yet? I'd love to hear how you are doing and any good strategies you might have! Send me an email at melissa@budgetsavvymag.com .
