Being a hardcore coffee drinker, I have dabbled in tea over the course of the last few years. I seem to like the “idea” of tea more than actually consuming it. No matter how I brewed a cup, it always tasted like the bag.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to attend a high tea and that changed everything. It was the first time I tasted loose-leaf tea – and I was right! All those previous cups HAD tasted like the bag.

Ever since then I kept my eye out for a cast iron tea pot. I didn’t want to settle on one. I wanted to fall in love with one. My patience paid off. I found a beautiful teapot at Teavana (www.teavana.com). I spent almost an hour picking out cups and trivets to go with my new teapot as well as tasting all different types of loose leaf tea to take home and brew. It was a wonderful hour and the final bill - $160 (including the teapot, a trivet, two cups and two coasters) for an item that I will have forever and be able to pass down.

Now, I enjoy the ritual of making tea for myself and drinking it out of my beautiful cups. However, I still reach for my beloved cup of coffee first thing every morning.
